Inhabitat - "Construction is in the works for what China is calling “The Biggest Solar Energy Production Base in the Whole World,” or more simply, Solar Valley. The base will be a clean energy technology hub that China hopes will rival Silicon Valley in California. The ambitious plans for the park were launched by Himin Solar Energy, whose headquarters is located at the Sun-Moon Mansion, which is currently the largest solar powered office building in the world" - writes Inhabitat.

Bourne Energy’s Backpack Power Plant is a hydroelectric generator that you can strap on just like a bookbag. The BPP is 3 feet long and weighs less than 30 pounds. It is self-contained and holds its own integrated power control, cooling and sensor systems. The generator is quite adaptable, and each unit generates up to 500 watts per unit. Each generator can work by itself, or can be tied to other units to generate up to 30 kW of power.

ExxonMobil and Chevron Invest in Synthetic Biology - writes The Green Economy Post. In July, ExxonMobil entered into a $600 million venture with Synthetic Genomics, a firm founded by biotech pioneer Dr. Craig Venter. “Synthetic Genomics has already engineered strains of algae that secrete oil from their cells,” writes the FT’s Clive Cookson - writes Ben Blank, Research Analyst II at KLD. Will oil companies transform themselves into algae companies? Read the whole analysis from Ben Blank at the original location of the article
