The UPWIND project, financed by the European Commission, focuses on blade technologies and next generation turbines. Under the Marina Platform project, experts are also exploiting the possibility of combined offshore platforms 'adding energy from waves, tides and currents. The Marina Platform brings offshore renewable energy applications closer to the market by creating new infrastructures for both offshore wind and ocean energy converters.

Wind energy offers the EU a reliable means to reduce its carbon emissions while securing its energy supply and remaining competitive.
