Experts from the EU-funded project ADDRESS have developed an Energy Box which is now being tested by a selection of households. Connected to the electricity grid via an aggregator, the Energy Box enables consumers to set their preferences for energy consumption and to schedule the usage of appliances such as water heaters, washing machines and refrigerators, at a time when low-cost renewable electricity is available.

The ADDRESS model offers a win-win solution for both energy distributors and consumers. Consumers become active and can benefit from lower costs without inconvenience, while distributors can better manage energy flows. More information about the ADDRESS project
